Ozone disinfection of tomato processing plant

A major tomato processing plant in Ohio has adopted an ozone disinfection system to improve the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the plant. This plant replaces the traditional biological fungicide, which can only slow down the growth of bacteria, and needs to be cleaned regularly. Ozone based sanitary treatment can effectively prevent microorganisms, keep the factory clean for a longer time, and significantly reduce the downtime required for sanitary treatment.

Pie ozone provides a factory wide ozone loop, and spray rods are available on all major lift and conveyor belts, from tomatoes to multiple skinning, processing and filling lines at the accumulation and distribution stations. The integrated ozone system provides up to 4ppm dissolved ozone at a rate of 182 GPM and is closely monitored by analyzers and controllers.

It is found that continuous ozone disinfection can increase the output and save the cost, resulting in significant economic benefits. Less downtime for cleaning and sanitation translates directly into higher plant efficiency and output. Other benefits include cleaning the appearance of the plant, reducing stains and product build-up on conveyor belts, and improving worker morale by reducing the smell of corruption.
